Clink Street Cermaics
Potter James Sims started @clink_street_ceramics in 2014. He graduated from Central St. Martins in 2006 where he studied Furniture and Product Design under Professor Ralph Ball. He also holds postgraduate degrees in MSc Urban Planning from LSBU, and MA Architectural History from The Bartlett School of Architecture UCL, where he studied under Professors Murray Fraser and Iain Borden. He graduated with a Distinction and won the Ancient Monuments Society Stephen Croad Essay Prize in 2019 for his research into the architect John Outram.
His ceramic practice draws inspiration from his architectural and product design background, in particular his love of Post-Modernism and British subcultures from the 1980s and 90s. He works mostly with stoneware clays and enjoys experimenting with glaze recipes and in-glaze transfers, exploring subjects ranging from skateboarding history to 90’s rave flyers. His work has recently been exhibited by Max Radford Gallery and is stocked.
